Update on US Orders (Aug 29, 2025)
All orders going to the US are temporarily on hold. You will not be able to check out an order with a shipping address in the United States.
As of August 29, 2025, White House Executive Order 14324 takes effect, ending duty-free de minimis importations into the United States from all countries. These changes affect how Canadian companies like Filmfrog Media ship products into the United States. While Canada has not joined more than other 20 other countries in suspending postal shipments to the US, shipments into the US are now required to have an ‘ad valorem’ duty of 35% applied and pre-paid before crossing the border, or DDP (Delivered Duty Paid).
The process for collecting this duty and remitting it to the US Customs and Border Protection agency prior to shipment is still being worked out amongst carriers, so whether orders are to be shipped via postal service (Canada Post hands off to USPS) or courier (UPS/Fedex), we have decided to pause all US shipments temporarily. Shipments that are DDU/DAP (Delivered Duty Unpaid or Delivered At Place, where the customer pays duties upon delivery) are no longer permitted for postal service, and while still allowed for courier, the fees can be unpredictable in advance.
Thousands of small e-commerce businesses like ourselves are awaiting our shipping and logistics providers to implement solutions that are compliant with the new regulations. Going forward, we may have to adjust pricing or taxes during the checkout process to account for the new tariffs on US-bound orders.
We understand this may be disappointing news, but we appreciate your patience as we work through the changes and thank you for your continued support.
